Happiness

Sometimes, or one might even argue that most of the time the greatest awareness occurs in the simplest of messages.  Yesterday I posted this line on Facebook  "I am so flippin happy right this minute....I might burst."  In less than twenty four hours, it has been liked 30 times!  Nothing I have ever written has been liked that many times and I think I have written some pretty cool shit...but I guess nothing as profound or meaningful as that simple sentiment.  At first, when it was up to about 20 likes, I just laughed and noted the observation.  But this morning, sitting here sipping my coffee and looking at the most recent number and diversity of "likes," I found myself smiling and processing the hidden or not so hidden message.

It was obvious to me that the people who read this and responded were genuinely happy that I was happy.  In fact, a few said exactly that.  It had the most amazing effect on me.  I became...wait for it, even happier.  Then, I imagined each and ever one of those people experiencing the same level of happiness.  I could literally see their faces, their smiles and could even feel their happiness.  It was one of the most simply profound and gratifying moments of my life.

In this current chapter, when I am living, loving and learning in a whole new experiential way, it is these moments that let me know I am awake and present.  I am grateful for the knowledge of self and the knowledge of shelf that is contributing to this current yet ever shifting state of being.  No matter the course, for me or for others, I am more convinced then ever of our common humanity and the simplicity of it.

Regardless of the shape, size or texture, we all aspire to be happy.  My wish for each of you and for all sentient beings is that you experience those moments of happiness, savor them and share them.  They are priceless.  They are life changing.  Thank you for contributing to mine.

They are everywhere....just look.
