A sneak peak; Bella's perspective
| the real story |
Good day to you all and by the way, Happy St.Patrick's Day! I have been waiting for so long to have the opportunity to tell you the "real story" about mom's adventures. First of all, however, for those of you that don't like it when we dogs refer to our owners as "mom," get over it. I mean, you are reading a post written by a dog. What does that say about you? If you know mom, you obviously know where I get my sense of humor and sarcasm, so sit back, relax and enjoy the post. Seriously, that's all you can really every do, regardless of the author. She asked me to give folks a little preview into this upcoming trip as her most recent inquiries make it quite obvious that no one really knows what the hell she is doing...present company included. Fortunately, this gives me a very unique perspective. Let me start off by saying two things; I'm glad she isn't going back to Arizona and I'm glad she isn't taking me with her! No offense, but I am a bit of a creature of habit. I don't mind if the scenery changes, as long as the comforts that I am used to (some call it spoiled, I call it comfort) remain the same. Thus, I shall split my time between Arlington and Shady Side where my "sitters" know me very well and are completely capable of meeting my needs. Speaking of needs, this post is really about me, yes? Like my mom, I get easily distracted. So, where was I going with this again? Oh yea, her trip to India. This is what I know so far and we will all have to wait with baited breath (what does that even mean?) to see if she gives us any more insight once she is there.
Monday afternoon she departs DC to head to New York City because who doesn't want to hang out at JFK airport for 4 hours? Me, that's who! And again, I digress. From NYC she heads to Brussels and then from Brussels to New Delhi, arriving approximately 10pm on Tuesday. The next morning she shall take a three hour flight south to Thiruvananthapuram International and be picked up and taken to Somatheeram Ayurvedic Retreat Center in Kerala, India where she will stay for the next 28 days. Truth be told, before she even lands in Brussels my sitters will already be feeding me the people food that I love and am deprived of on a daily basis...but keep that to yourselves, OK?
Mom, along with 17 other beautiful souls (her language, not mine) will spend the next month studying yoga; philosophy, history and the essence of living and teaching yoga. Even though they refer to this area as the Caribbean of India, she assures me that having to study 6 days a week will leave very little time for vacation mindset. Sure, whatever you say mom. But, she is very excited about the fact that some of their study will include day trips to explore the culture and various religious sites. Each Sunday there are planned excursions by the lovely host/hostess for those who can still walk and desire to do so. Her good friend Maia wants her to ride an elephant. She has mentioned it three times that I know of so I sure hope it happens for her. At the end of this adventure, a minimum of two things will hopefully have occurred. The first is that she will be 500 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher). The second is that she might have a little better sense of what is next for her. I have a little more faith in the first one, but hey what do I know, I'm just a dog.
So sports fans, that's all I know. She has mumbled something about unplugging from the modern world and this dang computer but has also promised to try to write at least 3 posts during her time away. Like me, I'm sure you will be waiting with baited breath. And what does that mean again?
Woof and Namaste,
Bella and Ringo Starr, the other cute dog. But trust me, he's more clueless than I am!

Thanks for the update Bella. If you need another place to vacation, Maeve would love for you to come stay with her!
ReplyDeleteTell your mom that I am really proud of her for taking this journey. Enjoy each day fully and live within your practice. Don't worry to much about what happens next, as Alex says its not worth worrying about things that you can't control. Just do what feels right, and the future will follow.
